Talk with Raya (“Raya”, “we”, “us”) helps people in Egypt improve their CV, find jobs that fit them and apply to those jobs. To do that we handle personal information about you. This policy explains what we collect, why, who it is shared with, how long we keep it and the choices you have. Your use of Raya is also covered by our Terms of Service.
The short version
- We collect what you give us (your account details, CV and answers) and what we need to run the service.
- We use it to build your CV, match you to jobs and, if you ask us to, apply for you.
- When Raya applies for you, the employer receives your application. That is the point of it.
- We use trusted third-party service providers to run Raya. They may only use your data to provide their service to us.
- We never sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
- You can download your data at any time and ask us to correct or delete it.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address and password, or the basic profile details your sign-in provider shares when you sign in with Google.
- Job preferences: the kind of role, field and location you are looking for, including the answers you give before creating an account.
- Your CV and career information: any CV you upload, the answers you give Raya in conversation, and the CVs, cover letters and application details we create with you. A CV can include your education, work history, skills, contact details and anything else you choose to put on it.
- Application settings: how you want Raya to apply, companies you have hidden and jobs you have saved, moved or marked as applied.
- Jobs you send us: the text, links and screenshots of job posts you forward to Raya.
- Messages to us: anything you send us when you contact support.
Payment information
Payments are handled by third-party payment processors. We do not see or store your full card number. We keep a record of your plan, payment status and the outcome of each payment attempt (for example, the reason a card was declined) so we can manage your subscription and help when a payment fails.
Information from your connected email account
If you connect your email account so Raya can apply by email, we use that connection only for the application work you have asked for. See section 4.
Information collected automatically
When you use Raya we record technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit and when, and error reports. We use it to keep the service secure, working and fast.
With your consent, we also measure how Raya is used: which pages are visited, what is clicked and copied, how fast pages load, errors in your browser, and, if you allow recordings, recordings of how a visit moved through the pages. When you are signed in, this is linked to your account, your name and email address, your plan and your job preferences, and includes what happens on your account: payments that succeed or fail, applications sent or handed back to you, and replies from employers (whether it was an interview, an offer or a rejection, never the email itself). Recordings hide everything you type, and on your dashboard and CV they hide all the text on the page, so your CV and contact details are not captured. Before you choose, we count visits and clicks without linking them to you; if you refuse, we stop. We use this only to understand what works and improve Raya, never for advertising. You can change your choice at any time from our Cookie Policy.
2. How we use it
- To create and run your account and keep you signed in.
- To review, score and improve your CV, and to write CVs and cover letters from what you tell us.
- To find jobs, check them for signs of scams, and match them to you.
- To apply for jobs on your behalf, in the way you have chosen in your settings.
- To show you the status of your applications and the replies you receive.
- To take payments and manage your subscription.
- To send you messages about your account, applications and the service.
- To keep Raya secure, prevent fraud and abuse, fix problems and improve the service.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We process your information to provide the service you signed up for, with your consent (which you can withdraw at any time), to meet legal requirements, and for our legitimate interests in running a safe and reliable service.
3. How we use AI
Raya uses artificial intelligence to read and improve CVs, hold the CV conversation, read job posts, match jobs and help complete applications. To do this, relevant parts of your information (such as your CV and answers) are processed by third-party AI service providers. They process it to return results to us, under contracts that limit how they may use it.
We do not use your CV, your answers or your emails to train AI models. Everything Raya writes on your CV must come from something you told us, and you see your CV before it is used.
4. Applying on your behalf
When Raya applies for a job for you, we send your application to that employer. Depending on the job this means emailing the employer from your own email account, or completing the application form on the employer's website or hiring system. The employer receives your CV, the details the application asks for, and any cover letter. Once they have it, the employer handles your information under their own privacy policy.
Some hiring systems need a candidate account. Where they do, Raya may create one using your email address so it can submit your application. The email and password Raya used are shown to you on that application in your dashboard, so you can sign in there yourself.
Some employer websites use security checks to block automated traffic. To complete an application on those sites we may use third-party services that handle these checks. They receive information about the page being completed, not your CV.
Your connected email account
If you connect your Gmail account, Raya uses it only to:
- send the application emails you have asked for, from your address and in your name;
- read one-time codes and verification links that a hiring system sends when it creates your candidate account, looking only for messages from that system in the last few minutes;
- find replies from employers you have applied to, looking only for messages from those employers after you applied.
We never scan your whole inbox. For a reply we keep only the sender's name, the subject line, a short preview of up to 500 characters and a reference so you can open it in Gmail. We do not keep the full message or the sender's email address. One-time codes are used once and not stored.
Raya's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We do not use this information for advertising, we do not sell it, and people at Raya do not read it unless you ask us to, it is needed for security, or the law requires it. You can disconnect your account at any time.
5. Who we share it with
We share personal information only as described here:
- Employers you have applied to, or asked Raya to apply to, as described in section 4.
- Third-party service providers that help us run Raya, including hosting and database services, AI service providers, email delivery, payment processors, job-search and data providers, account-connection services, application automation services, error monitoring and product analytics. They act on our instructions and may only use your information to provide their service to us.
- Authorities, where the law requires it or where it is needed to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or Raya.
- A buyer or successor, if Raya is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. This policy would continue to apply to your information.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
6. Where your information is stored
Some of our service providers store or process information outside Egypt. When your information is transferred abroad we take steps to make sure it stays protected, in line with applicable data protection law, including Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 151 of 2020).
7. How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as your account is open and for as long as we need it to provide the service. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep some of it for longer to meet legal, tax or accounting obligations, resolve disputes or prevent fraud. Answers given before creating an account are deleted if no account is created. Backups are overwritten on a regular cycle.
8. How we protect it
We use encryption in transit, access controls and limited staff access to protect your information. Connections to your email account are made through secure authorisation, and we never ask for or store your email password. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will tell you and the relevant authorities about a breach that affects you where the law requires it.
9. Your rights and choices
Subject to applicable law, you can:
- see the personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information or your account;
- object to or ask us to limit some uses of your information;
- withdraw your consent at any time, including by disconnecting your email account;
- complain to the data protection authority in Egypt or where you live.
You can download your data at any time from Settings. For anything else, contact us. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will reply within 30 days.
10. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies that are needed for Raya to work, such as keeping you signed in, remembering your progress through sign-up and protecting your account. With your consent, we also use cookies to measure how Raya is used and to record visits. We do not use advertising cookies. You can block cookies in your browser settings, but parts of Raya will stop working if you do. Our Cookie Policy lists them and lets you change your choices.
11. Children
Raya is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the date at the top when we do, and if a change is significant we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
13. Contact us
